Starz, Lower North Street, Exeter (TBA)

Unusually I have decided to withdraw my review about Starz and their unveggie friendly menu on the basis that they have introduced a few new veggie options and although still limited, it is worth another visit.  Although the interior hasn’t changed, it’d be good to get some objective comments from people who have been there recently.

Well I thought it was about time for a change, the banner is clean and fresh and the layout is nicer looking too.  Still no domain name yet as I am still trying to justify that bit.  If anyone thinks this is a good cause then please buy it on behalf of the blog and you will be credited!

On The Waterfront

I was going to bring you a review of the recently refurbished ‘On The Waterfront’ on the quayside.  All I can say is that it is like walking in to a hole now they have pretensionised the interior, an Ikea designers worst nightmare.  But alas they were fully booked so I was reliably informed sharply by the maitre’d, yes they seem to have one of them too now.
I shall return for a full inspection, as I had to go to Pizza Hut and pay thirty quid for the priveledge of being put in a corner and forgotten about for half an hour.  I am not reviewing Pizza Hut as that is just stupid.

First past the post…

I guess this is a “welcome” to the first entry of veget8, a “blog critique” of restaurants and eating places in Exeter from the vegetarian perspective. Being a veggie is easier now then ever, with lots of products available from supermarkets giving veggies more choice! However, going out can be a gamble with some restaurants being either veggie friendly and providing an inspiring and delicious range, or ‘cheese-sandwich’ establishments, where there is meat in every meal and the alternative is cheese (non veggie) sandwiches with a bit of pathetic salad on the side.

The choice in Exeter itself, is sad. There are two veggie eating places, The Plant (on the Cathedral Green) and Herbies (in North Street). That is it. So the creation of this website stems from this factor, that veggies want to eat out, but not go through the embaressing rigmorole of negotiating with sore face waiting staff, reluctant to cater for ‘fussy eaters’ as some see it.
